Who Can Apply?
- Only Nagaland’s Indigenous Inhabitants Tribes (Male/Female) who belong to any recognized Naga Tribe are eligible.
- Non-Indigenous applicants are not eligible.
Eligibility for Nagaland Police Constable (GD) 2025
District Eligibility
- Candidates can only apply for one district based on the official tribal ratio list (Annexure-1).
- All physical, medical, and written tests will be administered only in the district applied for.
Educational Qualification
- Backward Tribes: Candidates must have passed at least Class 6.
- Other Naga Tribes: Candidates must have passed at least Class 8.
- From the NBSE or any other recognized Indian board.
Age Limit (as on 30 Sept 2025)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 38 Years (with relaxation as per Govt. rules)
- Serving Government employees are eligible for age relaxation.
Selection Process for Nagaland Police Constable 2025
Physical Standard Test (PST)

Medical Fitness Test
Candidates will be checked for:
- Vision, Colour Blindness, Varicose Veins, Knocked Knees, Flat Feet, Squint Eyes, etc.
- Drug & Alcohol Test (mandatory)
- Pregnancy Test for female candidates (if positive, training will be in next batch)
Disqualifying Conditions:
Colour blindness, poor eyesight (below 6/9), deformities, deafness, amputations, etc.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Only candidates clearing PST/Medical will appear for PET.

Note: Only candidates who clear all PET events will move to the Written Exam.
Written Test Details
- Type: MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Total Questions: 80
- Total Marks: 40
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Language: English only
- Subjects Include: General Awareness, Science, History, Polity, GK of Nagaland, Sports, Naga Culture, Mathematics, and Mental Aptitude.
Interview & NCC Bonus Marks
After PET and Written Test, candidates will be shortlisted (1:3 ratio per post) for Interview (10 marks).
Extra Marks for NCC Certificates:
- ‘C’ Certificate – 5 Marks
- ‘B’ Certificate – 3 Marks
- ‘A’ Certificate – 2 Marks
Final Merit List
After all of the tests are completed, the Final Merit List will be created based on your overall performance in each stage, including the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Written Exam, NCC Bonus Marks (if any), and Interview. Only those who successfully complete all stages and meet the eligibility criteria will be added to the final list.
The names on this list are considered officially selected, and the result declaration will be interpreted as an offer of appointment. If a selected candidate does not wish to accept the offer, they must notify the department in writing within 30 days of the result announcement. Following that, appointment letters will be sent to confirmed candidates.
A waiting list will also be maintained (in a 10:1 ratio based on the tribal allocation) to fill any vacancies that may arise if selected candidates don’t join. However, this waiting list will be valid for only 90 days from the final result date. After that, it will automatically expire and will not be used for any future recruitment.
