Eligible for PGCIL Field Engineer & Supervisor Recruitment 2025

Educational Qualification

• Field Engineer (Electrical): Full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) in Electrical or a related field (Electrical Power, Electrical & Electronics, Power Systems, Power Engineering) with at least 55% marks.
• Field Engineer (Civil): Full-time B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 55% marks.
• Field Supervisor (Electrical): Full-time Diploma in Electrical or a related branch (equivalent to Field Engineer Electrical) with at least 55% marks.
• Field Supervisor (Civil): Full-time Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 55% marks.
• Field Supervisor (Electronics & Communication): Full-time Diploma in Electronics/Electronics & Communication/IT or a related field (Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Electrical Communication, Telecommunication Engineering) with at least 55% marks.

Important: Candidates with higher qualifications (such as B.Tech./M.Tech.) are ineligible for Supervisor positions, even if they also hold a diploma.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 29 years
• Relaxations:
  • OBC (NCL): +3 years
  • SC/ST: +5 years
  • PwBD: +10 years (13 years for OBC, 15 years for SC/ST)

Work Experience

• All candidates should have at least one year of post-qualification experience in the relevant field.
• Electrical / Civil positions require experience in the design, engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning of projects such as rural electrification (RE), distribution management system (DMS), sub transmission (ST), transmission lines (TL), and substations (S/S).
• Electronics and communication positions require experience with telecommunication systems (design, construction, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance).
• Preference will be given to those with experience in PSUs or publicly traded companies, particularly in the power sector.

Selection Process for PGCIL Recruitment 2025

The recruitment process is fair and merit-based, starting with a Computer Based Test (CBT) for all candidates.

Tier 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)

• Exam Name: Power Grid Common FTE Written Test 2025
• Duration: 1 hour
• Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
• Sections:
  • Technical Knowledge Test (50 questions): Based on the B.E., B.Tech., or diploma course outline
  • There are 25 questions on the aptitude test, covering general English, reasoning, quantitative aptitude, and general awareness.
• Marking Scheme: 1 mark for each question, no negative marking
• Qualifying Marks:
  • UR/EWS: 40%
  • Reserved categories: 30%

Tier 2: After the CBT

• For Field Engineer:
  • Based on their CBT scores, qualified candidates will be chosen for a personal interview.
  • Only how well you did in the interview will be used to make the final merit list.
• For Field Supervisor:
  • Candidates will be selected based on CBT marks only.
  • Shortlisted candidates must complete Document Verification before final appointment.
