Eligibility Criteria | BSF Constable Tradesman 2025

Educational Qualifications

For Constable (Carpenter, Plumber, Painter, Electrician, Pump Operator, Upholster):

• Must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.

In addition, candidates must have one of the following:

• A two-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade.
• OR a one-year ITI or Vocational Institute certificate (government-recognized) plus at least one year of work experience in that trade.

For Constable (Cook, Water Carrier, Waiter):

• Must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.
• Must hold a National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) Level-I certificate in Food Production or Kitchen from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) or any NSDC-recognized institute.

For Constable (Cobbler, Tailor, Washerman, Barber, Sweeper, Khoji):

• Must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) or an equivalent exam from a recognized board.
• Should be skilled and experienced in the respective trade.
• Candidates will need to clear a trade test conducted by the BSF to prove their proficiency.

Age Limit

• The minimum age to apply is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 25 years.
• Candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories will get age relaxation as per the Government of India rules and guidelines.

Constable (Tradesman) pay scale ranges from ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 and is classified as Pay Matrix Level 3. This is only the base salary. When additional allowances are factored in, your in-hand salary will increase dramatically. Selection Process | BSF Constable Tradesman Recruitment 2025

The selection process has several stages, each designed to evaluate your knowledge, fitness, and skills for the role. Here’s what you can expect:

1. Phase I – Written Examination: The journey begins with a written test covering subjects like General Knowledge, Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, and basic Hindi/English.
2. Phase II – Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET): If you pass the written exam, you’ll move on to physical assessments. This includes checking your height, chest, and weight (PST), followed by fitness tasks like running, long jump, and high jump (PET).
3. Phase III – Trade Test: At this stage, your hands-on abilities in your chosen trade will be put to the test.
4. Phase IV – Document Verification: Your original documents will be reviewed and verified to confirm your eligibility.
5. Phase V – Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Finally, you’ll undergo a thorough medical check-up to ensure you are physically fit to serve.
