Eligibility Criteria for AFMS Medical Officer Recruitment 2025

  1. Educational Qualification
    • Must have an MBBS degree (passed Final MBBS Part I & II in not more than 2 attempts).
    • Candidates with PG degree (recognized by NMC/NBE) can also apply.
    • Must have appeared in NEET PG 2024 or 2025.
    • PG doctors don’t need to reappear in NEET PG.
  2. Internship Completion
    • Internship must be completed on or before 31 July 2025.
  3. Age Limit (as on 31 Dec 2025)
    • MBBS degree holders: Below 30 years (Born on or after 02 Jan 1996).
    • PG degree holders: Below 35 years (Born on or after 02 Jan 1991).
  4. Other Requirements
    • Permanent registration from State Medical Council/NMC/MCI is mandatory.

Salary & Benefits | Indian Armed Forces as Medical Officer

On joining as Captain (equivalent rank in Army/Navy/Air Force), doctors will get:

  • Basic Pay: ₹61,300/-
  • Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/-
  • NPA (Non-Practicing Allowance) at existing rates.
  • Transport Allowance: ₹3,600/- to ₹7,200/-
  • Dress Allowance: ₹20,000 (Annual)
  • Dearness Allowance (DA) as applicable.

Selection Process for AFMS Medical Officer 2025

  1. Shortlisting
    • Based on NEET PG marks/percentile (converted to marks out of 200).
  2. Interview
    • Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt from November 11, 2025 onwards.
    • First-time candidates will receive a free AC-III train/bus fare reimbursement (unless they live within the Delhi municipal limits).
  3. Medical Examination
    • Those who pass the interview will face a Special Medical Board (SMB) in accordance with AFMS standards.
    • If you are declared unfit, you have the option of appealing to the Medical Board (AMB) or reviewing it.
    • Pregnancy, at any stage, will leave you temporarily unfit.
  4. Merit List
    • Merit = NEET PG (out of 200) + Interview Score (out of 50).
    • NCC certificate holders will be given extra weightage.
    • Only medically fit candidates will be given final joining instructions.

Job Profile & Promotions

  • Officers can be posted anywhere in the Army, Navy, or Air Force, both in India and abroad.
  • Even PG doctors may be posted as General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs) if necessary.
Promotions:
  • Captain (on joining)
  • Major – after 4 years
  • Lt Colonel – after 11 years
  • Further promotions by selection (Colonel, Brigadier, Major General, Lt General).

Tenure of Service

  • Initial tenure: 5 years (Short Service Commission).
  • Can be extended up to 14 years in total (5+5+4 years).
  • Released AMC/SSC officers may reapply within 1 year of release (conditions apply).

  1. Visit the official website at www.join.afms.gov.in.
  2. Click “NEW REGISTRATION” to create your profile.
  3. Fill out the application form with the correct personal, educational, and contact information.
  4. Upload the required scanned documents:
    • Recent passport-sized photograph (within six months)
    • Class tenth certificate / birth certificate
    • MBBS Final Parts I and II Attempt Certificate
    • Internship Completion Certificate
    • NEET PG Score Card
    • PG Degree Certificate (if applicable).

  5. Pay the application fee of ₹200 online (Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card).

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Army NCC Special Entry 2025

To apply for this entry, you must meet certain requirements regarding nationality, education, and age.

Nationality:
  • An Indian citizen, OR
  • A subject of Nepal, OR
  • A person of Indian origin who has permanently settled in India after moving from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or certain East African countries (a Government of India eligibility certificate is required).
Age Limit:
  • Must be between 19 and 25 years old as of January 1, 2026.
  • The date of birth should be between January 2, 2001 and January 1, 2007 (inclusive).
Education:

For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders

  • Graduate from a recognized university (final-year students may also apply, but must provide proof of completion by April 1, 2026).
  • Served for at least 2-3 years in NCC’s Senior Division/Wing.
  • Scored at least a ‘B’ on the NCC ‘C’ Certificate exam.
  • For Wards of Battle Casualties in the Indian Army:
  • Graduate from a recognized university.
Physical and Medical Requirements:
  • Both men and women should also know basic swimming skills.
  • You must meet Indian Army fitness and health standards (details available on the official website).
  • Before joining the Officers Training Academy (OTA), you should have the following basic fitness levels:
    • For Men:
      • Run 2.4 km in 10 minutes 30 seconds
      • 30 push-ups
      • 40 sit-ups
      • 6 pull-ups
    • For Women:
      • Run 2.4 km in 13 minutes
      • 15 push-ups
      • 25 sit-ups
      • 2 pull-ups

Salary & Benefits | Indian Army NCC Special Entry 2025 Notification

Upon joining as a Lieutenant through NCC Special Entry, your starting basic pay will be ₹56,100 (Pay Level 10 of the Defence Pay Matrix). But that’s just the start. With allowances, your total yearly package (CTC) is around ₹17-18 lakhs.

  • Field Area Allowances: Additional pay for serving in remote or high-altitude locations (such as Siachen, which has one of the highest allowances).

  • Post-retirement benefits include a pension and other retirement perks as determined by the government.
  • Military Service Pay (MSP) is ₹15,500 per month for all officers, from Lieutenant to Brigadier.

  • Transport Allowance (TPTA) ranges from ₹3,600 + DA to ₹7,200 + DA, based on posting city.

  3. If you’re a new user, click “Registration” to set up your account. If you’ve already registered, log in with your credentials.
  4. After logging in, navigate to your dashboard and click “Apply Online.”
  5. A page entitled “Officers Selection & Eligibility” will appear. Locate the “Short Service Commission NCC Special Entry Course” and click the “Apply” link.
  6. Fill out the application form carefully, including your personal, contact, and educational information.
  7. Upload scanned copies of your photo and signature in the appropriate format.
  8. Review your form by selecting “Summary of your information.”
  9. If everything is correct, select “Submit.”
  10. After submitting, print two copies of the form: one for your records and one to take to the SSB center.
